How to prepare your skin for the sun?

Homnès : préparer sa peau au soleil

Summer is finally around the corner and with it long days on the beach, hikes in the mountains, walks in town, cafes on the terrace... And a big dose of UV rays to which our skin is not exposed. not necessarily prepared for the end of winter. We give you 5 tips to properly prepare your skin before the sun arrives ☀️

1- We start with a course of food supplements

To effectively prepare your skin and provide it with the nutrients necessary to counter the harmful effects of the sun, it is recommended to use food supplements in the form of capsules specially designed to prepare your skin for the sun. It's very simple: about a month before your departure on vacation or from the month of May, start a course of "summer complexion" food supplement rich in vitamins A, C and E, as well as copper to prepare your skin for sunshine. All you need to do is take two capsules per day, one in the morning - when your body is most receptive - and one in the evening.

2- We add color to our plates

One of the simplest things to do to prepare your skin for the sun is to adopt a balanced diet and favor colorful dishes. From May onwards, opt for colorful seasonal fruits and vegetables. This will allow you to benefit from the following advantages:

- Antioxidants, which create a protective barrier and repair damaged skin cells.

- Vitamins and essential fatty acids, which deeply hydrate the skin and fight against skin aging by reducing oxidative stress.

- Beta-carotene, which promotes a tanned complexion. It is found in carrots, green vegetables such as beans, broccoli, spinach, as well as avocados, sweet potatoes, tomatoes, peppers, and fruits such as mango, apricots and citrus.

3- We use natural cosmetics that respect the skin

To achieve an optimal tan, it is essential to give your skin a new glow. Regular exfoliation is an essential step.

First of all, exfoliating helps clean the surface of your skin and remove dead cells accumulated during the winter. Then, it evens out your skin texture and restores radiance.

Ideally, exfoliate your entire body once a week, as this is the secret to an even, long-lasting tan. Opt for a gentle exfoliation with organic products so as not to damage your skin. Don't forget to take care of your face, body and feet! Use a scrub mitt that exfoliates deeply while preserving the softness of your skin.

Our homemade natural scrub recipe:

  • 45g of powdered sugar
  • 30 ml of coconut vegetable oil,
  • 5 drops of Tea Tree essential oil

4- On (s’)hydrate

Now that we have properly exfoliated the skin, we must moisturize it every day! Hydration encourages cell regeneration and helps create your hydrolipid barrier, a barrier that protects you from external aggressions (mainly UV rays and free radicals).

Use oursuperfatted silk protein soap every day and drink plenty of water 🙂

5- UV sessions, good or bad idea?

We have long been told that we can prepare our skin by doing a few UV treatments before summer. Unfortunately, these are just preconceived ideas... UV sessions in the cabin do not stimulate the production of melanin and therefore cannot protect your skin from the sun. On the contrary, they reduce your sun capital.
